This position is responsible for managing all warehouse operations for the dry, refrigerated and freezer areas of the facility.  Operations include shipping and receiving functions and inventory management.  Responsibility of maintaining the areas in a safe and sanitary condition to meet all Federal, State and company requirements and operate within the designated financial and productivity guidelines.




  • Oversee, hire, train, develop, evaluate and maintain discipline of department employees.


  • Maintain knowledge of all company policies and procedures.


  • Ability to effectively train, communicate, interview and coach associates.


  • Initiate and maintain sanitation program for responsible areas.


  • Administer slotting systems and maintain Receiving and Shipping systems.


  • Maintain updated knowledge of Safety Program and OSHA regulations and adhere to them promoting and training best work methods.


  • Have complete knowledge of company security system.


  • Maintain general knowledge of refrigeration systems.


  • Maintain working relationship between all operations departments respective assigned management.


  • Responsible for proper receiving, slotting, and shipping of products and the relationship to accuracy as well as productivity.






  • Responsible for providing direction and leadership to subsidiary employees, as well as ongoing communication of related status and issues to upper management.


  • Plan, schedule (vacations, holidays and other shift fill-ins), and coordinate personnel needed to accomplish all warehousing activities.


  • Determines and provides training and development of maintenance staff members as needed.


  • Assists in personnel recruitment to fulfill staffing requirements.


  • Responsible for employee performance evaluations of immediate subordinates on a semi annual basis for the purpose of communicating and properly documenting expectations and evaluations to the staff.


  • Provides ongoing feedback on the performance of subordinates and the department by monitoring activities and reports.


  • Ensure compliance with all applicable State/Federal laws, regulations, and policies (i.e. OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Admin., HACCP (Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points), AIB (American Institute Of Baking), etc).
  • Back-up for Safety Manager and or Authority Manager on Food Safety


  • Responsible for managing up to 10 department supervisors and up to 150 operations associates.


  • Will comply with all the Food Safety policies and procedures as directed by the Food Safety Committee and Food Safety regulations.

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must pass a functional capacity test.



5 years experience in warehouse management in distribution related industry. High school diploma minimum. College preferable. Considerable knowledge warehouse management systems to include inbound, outbound and inventory management processes. Knowledge of labor management system for operation



Must be articulate and effective with written and verbal communication with individuals of broadly varying backgrounds and educational levels.

Must have the ability to maintain cooperation between all departments of the operation.  Good interpersonal and supervisory skills. Must be able to effectively perform in a multi-tasking environment with frequent interruptions.  Must be able to effectively manage confidential information.




 Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.



It is expected that the incumbent will be able to work in a proactive manner, address issues, and solve problems by using previous education and experience in identifying appropriate actions.  Problems will vary in complexity and there will not always be a clearly defined solution.  Some solutions may require modifying past applications or creating a solution unique to the current situation but within the regulations that would apply.



Certification on material handling equipment (MHE) or ability to become certified.

The associate frequently is required to  use hands, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  The associate is occasionally required to sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds; and seldomly lift and/or move between 50 and 75 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
