  • Overview

    SUMMARY

    Provides support for the Depalletizer/Palletizer functions to assure timely and accurate reconfiguration of pallet stacks. Performs all duties safely, accurately, and meets set productivity goals.

     

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

    • Operate the Depalletizer/Palletizer equipment from either the automated processing station or the manual processing station in a safe and orderly manner.
    • Ensure proper operation of equipment such as conveyers, sensors, lights, palletizers and gantry crane.
    • Recognize and be able to recover from the normal process errors at the gantry robot, the case and pallet conveyors, the order palletizer and the residual palletizer.
    • Report repair or service needs to supervisor.
    • Work effectively with immediate Supervisor to minimize product damage.
    • Ensure the label and ribbon stock in the pallet label printers is sufficient to avoid equipment stoppages and replenish supplies when needed.
    • Transport pallets of product between staging areas and automated equipment induct locations as directed by the WMS
    • Ensure all empty pallet conveyers (manual and auto) are stocked.
    • Inspect pallets and product being moved for damage or quality issues.
    • Check product position and straighten the pallet stacks, remove shrink wrap, bands, or tape and remove/mark out any LPN labels before advancing donor pallets into the cell.
    • Make order quantity adjustments in Automated Control System (ACS) as needed to insure shipping/inventory accuracy.
    • Manually reconfigure donor pallets to order and residual pallet configurations as directed by the WMS and the ACS.
    • Query WMS data base to locate product needed to ensure no orders are shipped short when the item is in the RDC inventory.
    • Report any order shortages to supervisor.
    • Initiate ACS processing completion tasks and move completed order and residual pallets to the correct outbound spur locations.
    • Apply Uniform Product Code (UPC) labels as directed by the ACS software
    • Capture case catch weights as directed by the ACS software
    • Stack order pallets for same OPCO Load to maximize loading efficiency.
    • Initiate WMS tasks to move completed orders/order stacks from the outbound staging areas.
    • Work effectively with immediate Supervisor to minimize warehouse shrink (product loss).
    • Ensure proper sanitation and housekeeping of cell area.
    • Report any unfixable/unsafe issues to supervisor.
    • Observe and enforce all safety rules in an effort to reduce accidents and injuries.
    • Operate appropriate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, in a safe and orderly manner.
    • Ensure that MHE equipment is maintained (daily inspection) and clean. Report repair or service needs to supervisor.
    • Ensure warehouse computers and RF equipment are used in a safe and professional manner.
    • Understand and comply with all applicable company policies (i.e. attendance, Code of Business Conduct & Ethics, Associate Handbook etc).
    • Comply with all applicable State/Federal laws, regulations, and policies (i.e. OSHA, HACCP, AIB, etc).
    • Perform other warehouse duties as assigned.

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    No supervisory experience needed.

     

     

     

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Must be 18 years of age.
    • Must have one or more years experience operating automated material handling equipment.
    • Must be able to observe and to communicate those observations verbally and in written form to others responsible for the equipment operation and maintenance.
    • Must pass a functional capacity test.
    • Must be able to read and understand verbal instruction in English.
    • Must be able to do simple math calculations adding; subtraction; division; averages.
    • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively with supervision, management and co-workers.

     

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one year warehouse related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to read and write simple correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one and small group situations.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

     

    REASONING ABILITY

    Must possess excellent communication skills, organizational skills, problem solving skills, and effectively interact with several different personalities and levels of people.

     

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    Must successfully complete the certification process and testing.
