  • Overview


    Provides support for the receiving function to assure timely and accurate receipt of goods. Also ensures that all item information is accurately recorded into the Warehouse Management System (WMS).  Performs all duties safely, accurately and meets set productivity goals.




    • Provide unloading instruction to key personnel.
    • Receive and examine goods shipped to establishment, and verify piece count and weights against bills of lading, invoices, and other records.
    • Interact with outside drivers, warehouse associates, and Regional Service Department as necessary.
    • Apply blind License Plate Number’s (LPN’s) if not license plated by manufacturer.
    • Enter/scan appropriate information into Warehouse Management System upon receiving (e.g. – LPN, catch-weight, manufacture date, expiration date, etc), when vendor ASN in not assigned.
    • Receive and pack non-stock product onto master pallet(s) for put away into active storage.
    • Identify damaged or un-acceptable product (HACCP requirements) and communicate with the Regional Service Department, Inventory Control Supervisor, or Inbound Supervisor to rectify shortages, improper temperatures, or improper merchandise.
    • Communicate any schedule or door issues to supervisor or operation’s associate in order to maintain dock flow.
    • Assist in the resolution of receiving discrepancies as necessary.
    • Record vendor compliance issues during receipt.
    • Record all overages, short, and damages on the OS&D form.
    • Ensure proper operation of dock doors, plates, lights, and locks; reports repair or service needs to supervisor in an effort to prevent building damage.
    • Work effectively with immediate Supervisor to prevent warehouse shrink (product loss).
    • Responsible for sanitation and proper housekeeping of dock area.
    • Report any unsafe issues to supervisor.
    • Observe and enforce all safety rules in an effort to prevent accidents and injuries.
    • Operate appropriate MHE equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, in a safe and orderly manner in an effort to prevent accidents and injuries.
    • Ensure that MHE equipment is maintained (daily inspection) and clean; report repair or service needs to supervisor in an effort to prevent equipment damage.
    • Ensure warehouse computers and RF equipment is used in a safe and professional manner.
    • Use warehouse computers and RF equipment in a safe and professional manner.
    • Understand and comply with all applicable company policies (i.e. attendance, Code of Business Conduct & Ethics, Associate Handbook etc).
    • Comply with all applicable State/Federal laws, regulations, and policies (i.e. OSHA(Occupational Safety & Health Admin.), HACCP, AIB, etc).
    • Perform other warehouse duties as assigned.



    No supervisory experience needed.

    • Must be 18 years of age.
    • Must pass a functional capacity test.



    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or
    • One year warehouse related experience and/or training; or
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience.



    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to read and write simple correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one and small group situations.



    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.



    Must possess excellent communication skills, organizational skills, problem solving skills and effectively interact with several different personalities and levels of people.



    Certification on material handling equipment (MHE) or ability to become certified.
