  • Overview


    Responsible for management of inventory control functions and regional services functions utilizing the SWMS system.  Responsible for ensuring that Sysco FAMM inventory guidelines are properly executed and adhered to.  Responsible for support of supplier compliance procedures as they pertain to the South RDC, as well as oversight of vendor relations, recalls, and customer service activities.  Position reports to the Senior Director, Administration with staffing guidance and leadership responsibilities supported by the Vice President, RDC Operations.



    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

    • Support the adherence of cross functional standard operating procedures between internal RDC departments, operating companies and Sysco corporate.
    • Work with RDC functional areas to identify and facilitate process improvements relating to all cross functional processes.
    • Support inventory ramp up, conversion, and steady state on-boarding activities related to operations.
    • Establish and maintain working relationships with all southeast subsidiaries and all related corporate departments.
    • Facilitate the cooperation of all participating operating companies in the redistribution model.
    • Manage the monitoring of operating company compliance at the RDC.
    • Manage internal RDC supplier compliance program.
    • Report metrics relating to supplier operational performance to management.
    • Work with suppliers and Sysco corporate to resolve operational supplier compliance issues.
    • Work with operating companies, National Supply Chain Inventory Management (NSCIM), and Baugh Supply Chain, Inc. (BSCI) formerly Baugh Supply Chain Cooperative (BSCC) to support ongoing RDC national supplier compliance program, audit function, and issue resolution.
    • Work closely with RDC operations team and NSCIM team to achieve and maintain optimal inventory and service levels for operating companies and the RDC.
    • Facilitate corporate, supplier and customer meetings, visits, presentations and tours.
    • Participate in third party audits for facility, food safety, and financial reviews.
    • Ensure that inventory is being monitored in accordance with Sysco FAMM guidelines.
    • Manage the work assignments and staffing requirement of the inventory control department.
    • Support shrink metrics reporting to management.
    • Identify and implement methods to mitigate shrink.
    • Manage product on hold to ensure all issues are resolved in a timely manner.
    • Manage the proper disposal/donation of distressed product.
    • Ensure product recalls are executed in a timely manner in accordance with federal regulations.
    • Comply with all Sysco and governmental food safety policies and procedures as directed by the Sysco Food Safety Committee and governmental food safety regulations.
    • Implement policies and procedures (Preferred Work Methods and Best Business Practices) to ensure associates are trained and developed in safety, job knowledge, and attainment of performance standards.
    • Understand and comply with all applicable company policies (i.e. attendance, Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, Associate Handbook, etc.).
    • Oversee, hire, train, develop, evaluate and maintain discipline of direct reports.
    • Coordinate personnel coverage to insure required inventory and regional services functions are completed.
    • Effectively administer all company policies and procedures, including training, disciplining and termination of associates.
    • Accept additional responsibilities or special projects as requested. Other duties may be assigned.



    • Provide direction and leadership to a staff of four inventory control associates, one fulfillment coordinator and one supplier compliance coordinator in the completion of assigned activities and responsibilities.
    • Responsible for associate performance evaluations of direct reports on an annual basis for the purpose of communicating and properly documenting expectations and evaluations to the staff.
    • Provide ongoing feedback on the performance of subordinates and the department by monitoring activities and reports. Provide ongoing communications of any issues and status to management.
    • Determine and provide training and development of direct reports as needed.
    • Assist in personnel recruitment to fulfill departmental staffing requirements.

    • Must be 18 years of age.
    • Must pass a functional capacity test.



    • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Bachelor’s Degree from a four year college or university in a related discipline is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and inventory experience. 
    • A minimum of three years inventory control supervisory experience in a warehousing environment is required. A minimum of three years of inventory control experience in an RDC environment is also required. 
    • Organizational and time management skills are required.
    • The ability to work with and relate well to others is required.
    • Inventory warehouse management system experience required.
    • SWMS inventory management system experience preferred.
    • Basic computer knowledge.


    Must be articulate and effective with written and verbal communication with individuals of broadly varying backgrounds and educational levels.  Must have clear, concise written and verbal communication skills. 


    Must have ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Must have ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Must have ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.



    Must have ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Must have ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.



    Must be able to work in a proactive manner, address issues, and solve problems using previous education and experience in identifying appropriate actions.  Problems will vary in complexity.


    Must possess good attention to detail, possess emotional stability and objectivity, and the ability to see problems through to completion.  Must have excellent communication skills, and be self-motivated.

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Job is performed in an office environment with some time spent in the operations area.  While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally exposed to fast moving material handling equipment or other mechanical equipment.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.



    This is a full-time position.  The incumbent must have the ability to work a varying schedule which might include shift work (days or nights), weekdays or weekends, and some holidays.  Work hours may vary or change based on RDC operations requirements.



    Some travel may be required to support RDC business needs.
